It is known that chromium influences the growth of an alumina oxide la
yer on beta-NiAl at high temperatures. It has been claimed that oxidiz
ed chromium will act as nuclei for the theta --> alpha-alumina phase t
ransformation. This study presents RES-data on the presence of chromiu
m in the oxide scale which tends to substantiate this claim. Also XRD
results will affirm the above mentioned claim.
