Two patients presented with severe injuries to the left index finger (
amputation and partial amputation of the distal phalanx, together with
partial degloving). These injuries were successfully treated with fre
e thenar flaps over 40 mm long. In both cases, the superficial palmar
branch of the radial artery originated in its usual position and branc
hed normally and could be anastomosed to the digital artery. Both pati
ents have recovered well.
