M. Kataoka et al., GIANT VASCULAR LEIOMYOMA IN THE HAND - CASE-REPORT, Scandinavian journal of plastic and reconstructive surgery and hand surgery, 31(1), 1997, pp. 91-93
Vascular leiomyoma or angioleiomyoma is a benign solitary tumour that
arises from the mediae layer of the vein walls. It is usually located
in the wall of the uterus. We describe a 73-year-old man who presented
with a slowly growing mass in the thenar region of his night hand whi
ch, on histological examination, was shown to be a giant vascular leio
myoma. This is extremely rare and we could find only about 100 such ca
ses reported in English.
