Abstract
Industrial heat pumps are reviewed, classifying them according to the way by which the working fluid is taken from the lower to the higher p ressure: mechanical or thermal. Each group is further subdivided in cl osed and open cycle. The most recent technological developments are co nsidered for each classification.
