Je. Maddison et al., TREATMENT OF 42 CASES OF CANINE LYMPHOSARCOMA WITH COMBINATION CHEMOTHERAPY - 1987-1993, Australian veterinary practitioner, 24(2), 1994, pp. 94
Forty-two dogs with lymphosarcoma (excluding primary skin or neurologi
cal forms) were treated with a combination chemotherapy protocol conta
ining vincristine, L-asparaginase, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, chlo
rambucil, methotrexate and prednisolone. Thirty-six dogs (86%) achieve
d complete remission with a median remission time of 6.25 months. Dogs
that achieved complete remission had a 27% chance of maintaining remi
ssion for 12 months or more and a 40% chance of survival for 12 months
or more. The median survival time for dogs that achieved complete rem
ission was 8.125 months but only 1.65 months for dogs in which only pa
rtial response to treatment occurred. Sixty percent of dogs experience
d no or only minor side effects, 21% experienced side effects on one o
ccasion that required therapeutic intervention and 19% of dogs were as
sessed as having serious side effects.
