Abstract
Measurements of the total photoabsorption cross section of strontium a toms in the range between the 4d and 5p series limits have been carrie d out using monochromatized synchrotron radiation from the DORIS II st orage ring at HASYLAB, DESY and a thermionic diode detector. The absol ute cross section data confirm recent R-matrix calculations of the pho toabsorption cross section. A recently reported difference between R-m atrix calculations and high resolution measurements of the photoabsorp tion cross section near the 5p1/2 series limit is investigated.
