M. Uhrig et al., ELECTRON-PHOTON COINCIDENCE EXPERIMENT AFTER POLARIZED-ELECTRON IMPACT ON XENON, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 27(17), 1994, pp. 4009-4023
Light-polarization measurments have been performed after polarized-ele
ctron impact excitation of the xenon resonance levels. Both electron-p
hoton coincidence experiments as well as measurements of the integrate
d Stokes parameters have been carried out with a vacuum-ultraviolet an
alyser of the reflection type. A complete set of integrated Stokes par
ameters is given, which partly depend on the electron polarization and
allow one to draw conclusions on spin effects involved in the scatter
ing process. At a scattering energy of 25 eV and angles between 10-deg
rees and 20-degrees a spin up-down symmetry was measured using the coi
ncidence technique. A comparison of our experimental data with a DWBA
calculation shows good agreement.
