C. Turner et al., A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF SPECIFIC GROWTH-RATE AND ACETATE ON RECOMBINANT PROTEIN-PRODUCTION OF ESCHERICHIA-COLI JM107, Biotechnology letters, 16(9), 1994, pp. 891-896
The growth of Escherichia coli in fed-batch and continuous culture is
examined and results show that cl-amylase production is strongly depen
dent on specific growth rate (dilution rate) of the culture and produc
tion is greatest at an intermediate rate. Using continuous culture, it
has also been found that the presence of acetate above a certain conc
entration reduces both mu(max), and the production of recombinant prot
ein.
