Abstract
Medical examinations of the schoolchildren living in West Siberian urb an and rural ares have revealed a high prevalence of chronic diseases and functional abnormalities. Children referring to health groups I an d II were not found. This makes it necessary to perform such studies a s a component of medical and ecological monitoring and as the basis fo r children's health promotion.
