The mechanism of electric conductance of organosiloxane rubbers, fille
d with carbon black, is studied under stretching and compressive strai
ns. It is shown that changes in specific volume conductivity at high s
trains are governed by microstructure of the material, it being to a g
reat extent dependent on the type and content of the filler. It is fou
nd that a greater sensitivity of electroconducting rubbers to strain,
can be achieved when using polymer blends of components with different
viscosity and affinity to filler. The enhanced stability and sensitiv
ity to stress at small strain can be achieved by optimal choice of sol
vent content in polymer-based composite.
