Na. Krotkov et al., A NEW DATABASE PROGRAM FOR SPECTRAL SURFACE UV MEASUREMENTS, Journal of atmospheric and oceanic technology, 13(6), 1996, pp. 1291-1299
A program package for the management and analysis of spectral ultravio
let radiation (UV) data on an IBM compatible PC is described. The pres
ent version can accommodate data from UV spectroradiometers operating
in Russia, the U.S. National Science Foundation Polar Programs UV Spec
troradiometer Network, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
Ozone and UV Data Center, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The pa
ckage manages compact databases of measured UV spectra and supporting
meteorological information and has tools for visualization, statistica
l analysis, calculation of biologically effective doses, and a simple
built-in radiative transfer model. In this paper, the program structur
e and the user interface are discussed. Examples of the program's oper
ation using spectral data from three spectroradiometers (SUVS-M, Centr
al Aerological Observatory, Russia; Meteorological Observatory of Mosc
ow State University, Russia; NSF Network, United States) illustrate th
e program's capabilities. Comparisons of the experimental spectral dat
a with the results of the built-in radiative transfer model simulation
s are illustrated.
