Abstract
The behaviour of an unsteady process in the neighbourhood of a steady state can be approximately represented by models obtained by lineariza tion techniques.One such procedure is applied in this work to describe a plug flow reactor. To solve the linearized model, the reactor is di vided in a series of equally sized zones, on which the space dependent model parameters are replaced by averaged constant values. The proced ure is usable in mathematical representations dedicated to process con trol aims.
