Abstract
A mathematical model was developed for chemical power sources (CPS) ba sed on the zinc-manganese-air system (content of electrolytic manganes e dioxide in the cathode mass from 0 to 40%), and optimization was car ried out. The dependence of the initial discharge voltage on the MnO2 content under the most favorable combination of the other components o f the cathode mass, was found to be quite significant. Basic possibili ties are outlined for a sharp reduction (by a factor of 3-5) of the co nsumption of manganese dioxide in CPS production based on this system.
