The infrared spectra of some cobalt (II) complexes containing imidazol
e (im), namely Co (im)2Ac2, [Co (M)4(H2O)2]Cl2 and [Co(im)6]Cl2, were
recorded in the spectral range between 4000 and 20 cm-1, and briefly d
iscussed in relation with their known structural characteristics. Deta
iled comments, on the metal-ligand vibrations are also made. The inter
est of these complexes as model compounds for zinc and cobalt biochemi
stry is also emphazised.
