Abstract
5-Substituted-2-aminobenzenethiols (1a-f) react with 4-(p-tolylamino)p ent-3-en-2-one (2) in acidic medium, followed by neutralization and fu rther addition of alkali, to yield, dro-2,4-dimethyl-2-(4-tolylamino)- 8-substituted-1, 5-benzothiazepines (3a-f). Elemental analyses, IR, H- 1 NMR and mass spectral data have been applied in assigning structures to these compounds.
