K. Oka et al., OBSTRUCTION OF THE SUPERIOR SAGITTAL SINUS CAUSED BY PARASAGITTAL MENINGIOMAS - THE ROLE OF COLLATERAL VENOUS PATHWAYS, Journal of neurosurgery, 81(4), 1994, pp. 520-524
The authors present studies of eight patients who had obstruction of t
he superior sagittal sinus caused by parasagittal meningioma. The resu
lts indicate that meningeal veins and end-to-end anastomoses of the su
perficial veins of the cerebrum play important roles as collateral ven
ous pathways. This assessment suggests that, in patients with obstruct
ion of the superior sagittal sinus, venous phase angiography should be
carefully interpreted before surgery is attempted for parasagittal me
ningiomas.
