The expansion of television (TV) broadcasting networks has required th
e construction of new TV stations and the modernization of existing on
es. In addition to expanding the reliable reception zone and providing
increasing television broadcast coverage to the country, it is necess
ary to ensure that public health standards on permissible electromagne
tic field exposures for humans are met by establishing safety zones ne
ar television broadcast stations, to reduce radiated power levels, to
modify the heights and types of antennas used etc. The field levels ne
ar a television station can be reduced by changing the geometrical dim
ensions and phase distribution of the feed to the transmitter antenna
tiers [4, 6]. In this paper the optimization of the radiation characte
ristics of the antennas and the efficient use of the radiated power ar
e proposed as methods of achieving this goal.
