Sa. Gordeev et al., KINESTHETIC AND SOMATOSENSORY-EVOKED POTENTIALS IN PATIENTS WITH PARKINSONS SYNDROME, Bulletin of experimental biology and medicine, 117(3), 1994, pp. 229-231
In patients with Parkinson's syndrome the early components of kinesthe
tic evoked potentials recorded from the brain differ significantly fro
m those in healthy subjects, whereas the components of somatosensory e
voked potentials do not. The observed differences appear to reflect en
hanced pyramidal descending influences on the transmission of inhibito
ry kinesthetic afferent impulses in order to compensate for the excess
ive excitation in the extrapyramidal system.
