C. Muller et Kc. Seelos, TUBERCULOUS MENINGOENCEPHALITIS IN CONDIT ION AFTER EMBRYO-TRANSFER, Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde, 54(9), 1994, pp. 537-538
A 30-year old pregnant woman, who received an embryo transfer, suffere
d since the 12th week of pregnancy from therapy-resistant attacks of f
ever for several weeks. With progressive deteroriation, the increasing
ly somnolent patient showed by now clear signs of meningism and acid-f
ast bacilli were found in the cerebrospinal fluid. NMR showed a findin
g consistent with bacterial meningoencephalitis. During therapy with I
NH, Rifa and EMB, the clinical course and the CSF findings showed rapi
d improvement. Nevertheless, spontaneous abortion occurred in the 23rd
week of pregnancy. Previous history revealed, that granulomatous salp
ingitis had been diagnosed several years earlier as the reason for inf
ertility.
