Results concerning directed synthesis of organic compounds used for pr
oduction and treatment of motion picture and photographic materials ar
e summarized and correlated. The interrelation between the structure a
nd developing power of bisphenols, aminophenols, and phenylenediamines
is considered. The nature of synergistic action of mixtures of develo
pers is discussed. The principles of molecular design of agents modify
ing the growth of silver halide microcrystals are considered. The inte
rrelation between the molecular weight distribution of gelatin and its
properties in the process of production of photographic materials is
discussed.
