Ry. Zinyuk et Di. Fatkulina, THE ROLE OF DECOMPOSITION OF GASEOUS AMMONIA IN CONDENSATION OF SUBLIMATE OF THE SYSTEM NH3-H2SO4, Russian journal of applied chemistry, 66(11), 1993, pp. 1966-1968
Results are presented from an experimental investigation of the compos
ition of condensed phases formed by heating ammonium sulfate and conde
nsing the sublimate. Decomposition of ammonia in the presence of the s
ublimation products was also investigated. Within the range 225-300-de
grees-C, decomposition proceeds with liberation of ammonia and formati
on of a melt [NH4HSO4 65.0, (NH4)2SO4 35.0%]. At 300-600-degrees-C the
sublimate consists mainly of NH4HSO4 (90.4-97.8%). Conditions have be
en determined for the decomposition of ammonia in the presence of sulf
ur compounds (number of stages, temperature, catalyst).
