M. Setoyama et al., STEATOCYSTOMA MULTIPLEX - A CASE WITH UNUSUAL CLINICAL AND HISTOLOGICAL MANIFESTATION, The American journal of dermatopathology, 19(1), 1997, pp. 89-92
A 35-year-old man at our clinic was found to have steatocystoma multip
lex manifested by dome-shaped nodules confined to the scalp and forehe
ad. One of four cyst biopsy specimens revealed large lining cells with
granular cytoplasm adjacent to typical steatocystoma epithelial linin
g cells. Neither fibrosis nor inflammatory changes were noted in the s
urrounding connective tissue. The large granular lining cells had immu
nohistochemical characteristics of the macrophage/monocyte lineage. Th
is case appears to be an unusual clinical and histological manifestati
on of steatocystoma multiplex.
