Gk. Gomma et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL-BEHAVIOR OF SULFITE AND HYDRAZINE ON THE CORROSION OFLOW-CARBON STEEL IN ACID-MEDIUM, INDIAN JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY, 1(4), 1994, pp. 221-224
The open-circuit potential measurements of low carbon steel (0.05% C)
as well as weight-loss measurements at different pH values ranging fro
m 1 to 4 in solutions of different concentrations of two inhibitors so
dium sulphite and hydrazine have been investigated in presence of chlo
roacetic acid solutions. The steady state potential shifted to more po
sitive values by increasing pH from 1-2, while the corrosion potential
increased to a more negative values at pH 3-4. The corrosion rate inc
reases with decrease in concentration of sulphite and hydrazine.
