Abstract
Triphenylphosphine reacts easily at room temperature with the dicarben e complex [Fe2(CO)7(mu-C(R)C(NEt2)}] R = Me (1a), C3H5 (1b); SiMe3 (1C ); Ph (1d), to afford the monosubstituted complex Fe2(CO)6(PPh){mu-C(R )C(NEt2)}] (2) (R = Me, C3H5, SiMe3, Ph). All compounds were character ized by H-1, P-31 and C-13 NMR and IR spectroscopies and chemical anal ysis. The molecular structures of 1d and 2d were determined by X-ray c rystallography. Whatever the solvent used, only one isomer of any comp lex could be isolated. The incoming triphenylphosphine did not seem to influence the carbene structure.
