Abstract
Elimination of HCl from the six-coordinated complex Cl2(Ph3P)2Ir-C(O)C HC(OEt)O gives the five-coordinated alpha-acyl ester enolate complex ( CI)(Ph3P)2Ir-C(O)CH=C(OEt)O (1). The X-ray diffraction for 1 shows a d istorted tetragonal pyramidal structure with the acyl group in the api cal position. The 16-electron complex 1 adds CO and CH3CN in a reversi ble manner.
