Using statistics for small samples, I investigate the relation between
the current strength of the galactic magnetic field B (as obtained by
the best available method) and the star formation activity (as obtain
ed by either the star formation rate [SFR] or the star formation effic
iency [SFE]). From recently published homogeneous observational data i
n a ''complete sample'' of nearby spiral galaxies, I looked for a rela
tion between galactic magnetic field and star formation rate B approxi
mately SFR(j), and I find j = 0.13 +/- 0.04 for 33 galaxies. I also lo
oked for a relation between galactic magnetic field and star formation
efficiency B approximately SFE(j), and I find j = 0.13 +/- 0.04 for 4
8 galaxies.
