Symptomatic liquefaction and calcification of muscle tissue as a late
sequela of compartment syndrome of the lower leg is rare. The literatu
re shows a high complication rate involved with simple debridement of
these compartments. In our limited experience, complete compartmental
debridement and immediate introduction of functional viable muscle may
prevent the documented complications of chronic drainage and infectio
n.
