gnosed because of Compton scattering signals. The amount of scattered
light is related to the Fourier transform of the transverse spatial di
stribution. Both even and odd parts of the profile of bunches whose si
ze is slightly smaller than the optical wavelength can be reconstructe
d. The size of much smaller bunches can be evaluated by scanning acros
s the fringes together with variations of the optical intensity.
