Abstract
Alterations of facial features between the initial phase of a memory t ask and a later recognition test lower identification accuracy. The ef fects of leaving on, leaving off, adding, or removing targets' eyeglas ses or beards on identification accuracy were examined in two experime nts with American undergraduates. The removal of eyeglasses and either type of beard transformation, especially the addition of a beard, low ered identification accuracy.
