Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the application of major th eoretical models in college-based alcohol and other drug prevention pr ograms funded by the US. Department of Education's Fund for the Improv ement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) during the years 1987-1990. T his study found that college-based prevention efforts in the U.S. appe ar to be influenced by a range of different theoretical models, develo ped largely from school-based prevention research.
