Abstract
A battery of confirmatory and complementary in vitro assays was used t o investigate a series of surfactants with different irritancy potenti als, as confirmed by human skin patch testing. This was found to disti nguish between sodium lauryl sulfate and its analogues, and when furth er tested on formulations the battery of assays was again capable of p redicting the human data.
