AN EFFICIENT SYNTHESIS OF DIARYLALLENYLID ENE PENTACARBONYL CHROMIUM AND TUNGSTEN COMPLEXES - CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE OF (CO)(5)CR=C=C=CPH(2)

An efficient synthesis of diarylallenylidene pentacarbonyl chromium an d tungsten complexes is presented. Irradiation of M(CO)(6) in TKF affo rds (CO)(5)M[THF]. Substitution of the THF ligand by diarylpropargylal coholate and subsequent desoxygenation with COCl2 gives the title comp ounds in good yield. The structure of diphenylallenylidene pentacarbon yl chromium has been determined by X-ray structure analysis.
