In the period from 1991 to 1993, 63 Ciliophora species were found in 1
36 samples from the Morava river main stream, its tributaries, and sti
ll waters in its inundation area. Based on community character, a high
er stability of communities in the main stream was established. In tri
butaries, changes were more dynamic in relation to the varying polluti
on and all localities could be classified as mesosaprobic, suggesting
a good cleaning capacity of the stream. In general, there was a preval
ence of vagile species bacteriovorous species prevailed in the main st
ream,
