S. Kaluz, CONTRIBUTION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF SOIL MITES (ACARINA) IN MORAVA RIVERFLOODPLAIN AND BORSKA-NIZINA (LOWLAND), EKOLOGIA-BRATISLAVA, 13, 1994, pp. 135-144
The paper brings the first information concerning free living soil mit
es (Acarina) in flood-plain of the Morava river and Borska nizina (low
land). Three studied localities represent various biotopes, inhabited
by different soil mites communities, Community structure and compositi
on of Acarina species in each locality reflect the differences in reli
ef, soil profile and phytocenoses. Locality Vysoka pri Morave represen
ts a soil mites community typical of a floodplain, in the next two Bez
edne and Borova there occure mites communities, richer and more intere
sting in comparison to the previous one. During the investigation at t
hese localities, altogether 2766 individuals belonging to 76 acarina s
pecies were found. Among them 18 species were recorded in the Slovak f
auna for the first time.
