A shoulder joint lameness was diagnosed in the right front limb of an
18-month-old mixed breed filly. An osseous fragment was found after ra
diography of the shoulder at the cranial aspect of the supraglenoid no
tch. An arthrotomy was performed and the fragment was removed. Histopa
thologic examination of the tissues could not explain for certain the
etiology of the fragment. Surgical removal of the fragment resulted in
uneventful recovery from lameness and 19 months after surgery the hor
se remained free of lameness and was in a training program.
