Hj. Pauling et al., LAYER-BY-LAYER FORMATION OF HETEROSTRUCTURED ULTRA-THIN FILMS BY UPD AND OPD OF METALS, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 376(1-2), 1994, pp. 179-184
It is shown that ultra-thin multi-compound metal films (sandwich-struc
tured Me films and surface alloys) can be formed by UPD and OPD in dif
ferent multi-component systems using special polarization routines. Th
e thickness, structure and composition of multi-compound metal films c
an be controlled by the choice of the substrate, the composition of th
e electrolyte, and the polarization conditions. The results obtained a
re of interest for the nanotechnology dealing with structuring and mod
ification of metal surfaces in the nanometre range in the vertical and
lateral directions.
