Ch. Leung et al., HEAT-TRANSFER TO AN INFINITE SOLID THROUGH A MOVING BOUNDARY, International communications in heat and mass transfer, 24(2), 1997, pp. 181-189
The objective of this paper is to investigate the classical Stefan pro
blem of a one dimensional heat transfer problem with a moving boundary
. To solve this problem we use a known perturbation scheme to obtain a
n approximate solution when the ratio of sensible heat to the latent h
eat is small. We compare a numerical solution of this problem with the
asymptotic and investigate the variation of the asymptotic regression
rate with key parameters. This method is valid for small values of th
e Stefan parameter and the motivation of this model is that it can be
applied to a similar problem involving char formation. (C) 1997 Elsevi
