Abstract
Failure to remove all sponges and surgical instruments from the operat ive field after thoracic surgical procedures can lead to serious compl ications. Fortunately this occurrence is rave and preventable. Two pat ients are described in whom intrapleural foreign bodies were successfu lly removed by open tube thoracoscopy, a technique that the authors re commend as the procedure of choice in such cases.
