R. Rantanen et Kw. Finch, PRODUCTION PROVEN CAPABILITIES IN SYM-SIZER PIGMENTING - FILM TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY OFFERS NEW BENEFITS, Pulp & paper Canada, 95(9), 1994, pp. 67-70
Today the use of the Sym-Sizer film transfer size press has widened to
pigmenting and coating of woodfree and wood-containing grades. To ful
fill the requirements of these new applications, different metering me
thods are needed. For surface sizing and low solids pigmenting, a groo
ved rod is recommended. Medium solids coating is accomplished by blade
metering, while high solids coating is done with a large diameter smo
oth rod. The newest development is a large diameter grooved rod intend
ed for low-speed, high coat-weight applications. In addition the Sym-S
izer design has also been improved in terms of operational simplicity
and ease of maintenance.
