Target residues from the interaction of copper with 135 MeV/nucleon C-
12 ions have been studied by off-line gamma-ray spectroscopy. Cross se
ctions, average forward ranges, and forward-to-backward ratios were me
asured for 44 products. The data were used to obtain the isobaric-yiel
d distribution, the mean-linear-momentum transfer, and the mean excita
tion energy. The results are compared with the previous ones from low-
and high-energy experiments. The plateau of the recoil-velocity distr
ibution observed at lower intermediate energies disappears at the pres
ent energy. The mean excitation energy approaches the limiting value a
t the present energy. The cross sections of spallation products with m
ass numbers between 2/3A(target) and A(target) are similar to those ob
served at relativistic energies, which suggests limiting fragmentation
