Abstract
The vertical displacement rates calculated by levellings comparison in the southern Jura Mountains and north-western Alps show regional tend encies correlated with the localization of the ramps that structured t he studied area. We propose then that vertical displacements are cause d by the present-day activity of cover thrusts (External Jura Mountain s, southern Molasse Basin) or crustal discontinuities like the thrust of the Internal Jura above the External Jura or the Belledonne massif thrust.
