Abstract
The facies distribution of the Peloritan Oligo-Miocene Formation is li nked to WNW-ESE trending faults. During the Late Oligocene and Early M iocene, these faults may have bound southward tilted blocks. The margi n was northward dipping. The Peloritan area, which is now part of the southern margin of the Tyrrhenian Basin, previously belonged to the so uthern margin of the Algero-Provencal Basin.
