A texture analysis technique is presented, based on multi-resolution F
ourier analysis of images. Conventional subimage Fourier analysis prod
uces results which are not easily assimilated. This paper proposes the
use of colour to give an accessible display of such results. The desc
ribed colour coding can, in principle, be applied in conjunction with
any texture analysis algorithm. Application of the technique to medica
l magnetic-resonance images is given as an example.
