Km. Feng et al., ACTIVATION AND IRRADIATION EFFECT CALCULATIONS OF THE FIRST WALL FOR A FUSION BREEDER, Journal of nuclear materials, 215, 1994, pp. 615-620
It is very important to investigate the activation of structure materi
als and to estimate the lifetime of the first wall of a fusion breeder
. The activation and irradiation damage calculation codes, FDKR and FW
LC, have been developed for the fusion breeder and used to calculate t
he activation and irradiation effects on the first wall in a Tokamak E
ngineering Test Breeder (TETB-C). The results of calculation for one y
ear's operation with 200 MW fusion power are given. The results show t
hat the radioactivity of the first wall is 3.80 x 10(18) Bq from activ
ation products, which is 36% of the total activity from all activation
materials. The maximum specific activity, 4.30 x 10(12) Bq/cm(3), occ
urs in the first wall. In this paper, calculations of the irradiation
damage of the first wall were carried out using the FWLC code for diff
erent operating temperatures and irradiation times. A prediction of th
e failure period of the first wall is also presented under the operati
ng conditions of the TETB-C fusion breeder.
