Research activities of the Animal Health division of Ciba in St. Aubin
consist mainly in the discovery of new substances to maintain and imp
rove the health of companion and farm animals, as well as in various s
ervices for research and development projects. An important screening
set-up allows to test molecules from various origines for their abilit
y to control endoparasites (mainly gastrointestinal worms), ectoparasi
tes (mainly ticks, mites, and fleas) and microbial infections (mainly
mastitis). A small group also works on immunological approach to paras
ite control. The service group deals with analytics, clinical chemistr
y and carries out safety trials in pharmacokinetics, tolerability, and
residues. A modern and well equiped facility like the CRA is able to
fulfill today's requirements for new products in the field of animal h
ealth.
