Abstract
In the past, displaced pilon (hammer) fractures were considered to be inoperative. When principles for open reduction and internal fixation of pilon fractures were developed, encouraging surgical results emerge d. This article deals with the classification, treatment, technique of fixation, and care of this type of fracture.
