Photonic crystals are materials patterned with a periodicity In dielec tric constant, which can create a range of 'forbidden' frequencies cal led a photonic handgap. Photons with energies lying in the handgap can not propagate through the medium. This provides the opportunity to sha pe and moults the now of light for photonic information technology.
