Abstract
We analyze the influence of different optical coding methods of the in put image in optical correlators. The noise robustness and the optical efficiency of the correlator are investigated. We show in particular that the signal-to-noise ratio is greatly dependent on the coding meth od. It decreases drastically for large phase modulation.
