M. Skompska et J. Dabkowski, THE MECHANISMS OF ELECTROPOLYMERIZATION OF POLY(N-VINYLCARBAZOLE) FILMS ON THE PLATINUM-ELECTRODE .1., Polish Journal of Chemistry, 68(10), 1994, pp. 1999-2007
The poly(N-vinylcarbazole) films were prepared under potentiodynamic a
nd potentiostatic control in acetonitrile solution containing 0.1 M Li
ClO4 and 0.01 M N-vinylcarbazole monomer. The initial stage of electro
polymerization in potentiostatic experiments, occurred via nucleation
and growth mechanism and was studied in the range of potentials from 0
.68V to 0.9V vs. Ag/Ag+ reference electrode. It was found, that the re
gime of the process depends on the potential. It changes from progress
ive nucleation and 3D growth at the lowest values of potentials, to th
e progressive 2D growth at the medium potential values and finally the
process becomes diffusion controlled at the highest values of potenti
als. The preliminary studies of electrochemical activity of the films
were carried out by the use of cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometr
y.
