Abstract
A pulse echo technique was employed to measure the ultrasonic attenuat ion and velocity in the 120-340 K temperature range on Nd2Cu1-xZnxO4 w ith x=0, 0.02 and 0.05. A marked hysteresis in the velocity vs. temper ature trend was observed. The Zn doping results in a reduction in the hysteresis loop area. Strong attenuation maxima were observed at 210 a nd 260 K. The results are discussed in terms of magnetoelastic interac tion across the Neel temperature.
